Red Tent Community Meetings are available for participants who have been released from jail, so that they can continue their involvement with Red Tent as a means of breaking the cycle of isolation, alienation, and recidivism. At the three community meetings offered per week in Pinellas County, women are encouraged to support one another while learning communication and life skills and creating marketable handmade items. Women who are in transition but who may not have been to jail are also welcome to take part in Red Tent Community Meetings.
Women are encouraged to participate in monthly Red Tent Community Markets, where they can display and sell their handmade crafts at various neighborhood venues, including among them The Indie Mart, The Gulfport Artwalk, and Necessories Boho Feme Funk Boutique in St. Petersburg. In addition, a brick-and-mortar storefront called The Red Tent Market, featuring merchandise handmade by Red Tent participants and serving as a dedicated workspace where women can come to create Wednesday through Saturday, has opened with the help of the Pinellas Ex-offender Re-entry Coalition (PERC). An online store featuring handmade Red Tent merchandise is in the process of opening soon as well! Red Tent members are encouraged to participate in all aspects of these community businesses; learning marketable employment skills while improving their financial literacy, self-esteem, and sense of purpose.
